looks like one of the open mould frames with cervelo stickers. Lots of scratches on the chainstay/dropout suggest it's an older bike as well.
|
Looks like the old school Avanti Pista frame painted red with stickers.
Or a Focus frame, as I believe they brought or copied the frame/mould.https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...303c0a8d2.jpeg |
US natty team went 3:56 in the first round in Cambridge. That's a new sea-level PR for them, yeah?

And the NZ team were 0.35" away from the world record in the final!

it really seems like the TP is becoming more prestigious, a marquee event for national teams. GB chipped away at it during olympic cycles but since Rio, AUS took it and more teams are approaching it. and frankly it's crazy to think that the US men are riding a time that was a world record only ten years ago. |

Why so wide, I wonder? Does anyone buy a 40cm bar for sprinting anymore?

Just found this, not sure of it's been posted before (apologies if so), but this is a pretty well done doc on Chris Hoy and the mental side of sport. Cool insights on his (and the world's) final Olympic gold in the kilo.

Chris Hoy documentary It goes over some basic maxims about how to be a top athlete and what's involved. There are Olympians in the video (Andy Murray, Lenox Lewis, etc...) but I believe that many junior, masters, and non-international elites can relate as well to the sacrifices...they just get paid less :D I really thought it was interesting that Hoy and Rebecca Adlington (Britan's most accomplished simmer ever) both mention taking advantage of the advice of Sports Psychiatrists/Psychologists. When talking about preparations for training and competition, she says, "I started working with a sports psychologist. Which, for me, I couldn't have survived the 4 years without. I didn't kind of realize how important it was." The Team GB Sports Psychiatrist Dr. Steve Peters is interviewed as well. He briefly mentions his program. I think Sports Psychology is much more than "marginal gains" area for top athletes. A good coach often fills this role. But, more often than not, coaches do not. |

Pretty amazing to watch Ashton Lambie reverse a 1.5s deficit in the last 4 laps into a .5s advantage on the French Team yesterday. 3:59 yesterday to qualify 2nd -- which wasn't a bad time considering the conditions. I don't think they can beat the Italians, though -- they were flying.

For you equipment geeks -- German TP bars.

I'm pretty sure that FES lets their engineers do whatever the hell they want to do. It's awesome.
[Engineer] "Hans, how about I make a ..." [Hans] "Fine." [Engineer] "Cool. Thanks, boss." |
Where are you guys finding video of Hong Kong? I can't find anything on the UCI YouTube page, which is my usual source.

Those bar ends look similar to what Morelock runs. (Albeit, the German ones look much fancier.)
