11 speed cassette with a 16T

Looking for a Shimano or Sram 11-32T cassette that contains the 13-14-15-16T in the grouping. Any suggestions? Some sites don't list the full breakdown & others show it only available with a 11-28T

What you are looking for does not exist:

Search for "shimano cassette dealer manual" to find the individual cogs in a Shimano cassette.

Only the SRAM version of the 11-28 cassette has a 16T cog, but it does not also have the 32T cog which you seek.

thanks. I recall a thread with a link to a site that offers a build to spec cassette, but couldn't find it using the search menu.

I think some others have mentioned an Italian company named Miche that does this.

Came across references to this outfit in another thread.. pricey stuff built for weight weenies.. but maybe of interest:

that was the site.. oh that is a sticker shocker!

I'm pretty sure the new Shimano 12sp will have a 16T cog.

Troul 09-16-21 04:17 PM

probably could remove the shim on the hub for it.... is it a 11T with 34T or 32T

Edco does not make a 11-32 cassette with only single tooth gaps between the 13T cog and the 16T cog as Troul wants; I thought he was asking about a custom cassette for which he can specify the individual cogs.

Troul 09-16-21 05:32 PM

11-13-14-15-16-------32

As long as I can get the 15, 16, & maybe even 17 together on a 11-32T 11spd assembly, it'd be sufficient.

jaxgtr 09-16-21 06:00 PM

you could get a 14-28, get rid of the 12 in your existing cassette and add the 16.

What is this option listed on the page I linked?

14 - 28 Junior Cassette is single tooth jumps to the 21. 14-15-16-17-18-19-20-21-23-25-28

According to Mike Shermans gear chart, Shimano has an 11 spd. 11-32 with a 16. Says 11-12-13-14-15-16-17

https://mike-sherman.github.io/shift/

Don't know if it exists.

still would be missing the 32T though. I'd even opt to have a 34T if it netted the lesser tooth count cogs.

Yea, I know, what I was thinking is get both, pull the 12 and add the 16.

that cost though... it's approaching the "custom" route.

Troul 09-16-21 06:52 PM

going to dig in the ole parts cabinet tomorrow evening to see if I have an old 8 or 10 speed cassette that may be able to donate a 16T....

Wouldn't the 8 speed version be too thick to work in an 11 speed drive train?

I have tried to create a custom / Frankenstein 11 speed 12-28 cassette from two donor (12-25 & 11-28) Ultegra cassettes, but could not get the downshift across the transition (between the two donor cassettes) to work properly. YMMV, good luck.

I'm not 100% on the thickness, but I'll take out the vernier to see about that difference. what was the T setup across the cassette?

My Frankenstein Ultegra cassette was intended to replicate a Shimano DA 12-28 cassette: 12-13-14-15-16-17-19-21-23-25-28. Detailed here:

I just did check of my extra cassettes thinking I had a 11-32 but it was an 11-30,

Troul 09-16-21 07:10 PM

i'd thought that sweep would be easy for the system... Did you have the back spacing, shim, in between spacers, & chainline good? New cable & housing?

Sy Reene 09-16-21 07:11 PM

I guess a 12-32 option is out? Would require a freehub swap to campy, but I've been pretty happy with the centaur 12-32, a relative bargain these days at under $70

a 30T might be feasible, but the 32 really comes in handy when spiking up certain terrains around the area.
