Which Tektro disc brake pads?
Hi. I've been working on old bikes for a long time, but I'm new to disc brakes. I've got a bike with Tektro Gemini hydraulic brakes, and I'll need new pads soon. I'm wondering which ones to get.
According to Tektro, the OEM pads are A10.11, but E10.11, P20.11, and A10YS will also work. And then I'm also seeing aftermarket pads that are cheaper. I'm inclined just to get the A10.11s, but I'm wondering if there are any advantages/disadvantages to any of the other options. Thanks! |
It’s just a matter of which compound you like. If you don’t know, choose a different one and try it.
I don’t think the aftermarket savings of an Amazon letter salad brand are enough to justify it. Brakes are important. If it’s Shimano or Jagwire or Koolstop, sure. |
There’s a lot of cross compatibility of this pad. It’s pretty much the industry standard for non-fancy calipers. From a CRC/Nukeproof pdf:

Cool. So, if basically any pad in this shape will work, does anybody have a favorite they'd like to recommend?
For context: this is going on a Douze V2 cargo bike that takes my toddler to and from daycare, and me to and from work, every day, in all weather. Bike + rider + passenger + cargo probably weigh somewhere in the neighborhood of 280 pounds. My town is pretty flat, but there is one brief-but-steep downhill on the way to my kid's daycare. It's taken me about 3 years of daily use to wear through the original pads. |
Looks the same as Shimano B01S.
