I've had terrible luck lending things to others. People borrow stuff, then break it and complain I lent them trash. So no. I'll never lend a bike to anyone.

It's a 3x7, and the XT front is a 3 speed that came off a 3x7 bike. There's sufficient range. Not sure what I need to look for.

I've got Mr Tuffy "light" liners on my cross bike and haven't had a flat yet. My area has the "goat-head" thorns everywhere. I'd suggest liners first as they're light-weight and only $20 for a pair.
