Moved from Tennessee to Utah. The road salt here just eats up chains and derailleur springs. Thinking of going back to the Alfine hub because of it.

It is often possible to save money by buying non-cycling specific clothing. In the case of padded gloves, look at Mechanix-type gloves made for air impact tools at your local hardware store.
