Update, thanks for the replies, I got another stem with a 25 mm clamp, ( and 22.0 quill!) it was noticeable harder to fit it on the bars but I managed to do it without scratching the handlebar...

That's a pretty cool Mad Max solution , I hope I don't have to do anything like that though, I have seen a lot of aluminum frames cracked at the seatube, not so many steel frames.

Doing that in a straight lonely road is not very risky, doing it on a busy highway overtaking cars and trucks is pretty sketchy, especially clipping again in your pedals , spinning at 90 rpm.
