I tested mine. A driver passing at 10-12 feet off axis will close to within 65-75 ft before losing the high intensity portion. I'd rather have the narrow beam and longer throw.

Sorry. I made a mess of the point I was trying to make which is that I feel the original Hotshot doesn't need a wider beam. I'd rather maintain the narrow beam and get more punch in the "hot zone"....

I did a test on my Hotshot SL, a driver doesn't lose the full intensity zone until s/he closes to within 65-75 ft of the rider. That's with the driver being 10-12 ft off center from the bike light....
