I just bought an '87 for $189.00. I think you did OK if the seat post isn't stuck and there isn't any frame damage. The components are probably close to that even if the frame is no good.

I used one of these when I worked for a lawn crew in high school. It worked great filling mower tires from a big truck tire. I don't know how well it would work with a bike!
