Yes, trim the cables and replace with vintage Weinmannís. I restored it about 15 years ago when I wasnít as meticulous.

I got a chance to tear the frame down a bit today. The steerer is definitely Columbus, with 5 distinct helical ridges.

And I have confirmed that at least the main frame tubing is Columbus as well....
