They will probably be fine. Sometimes aftermarket pads are noisy or may not wear as well as the oem. Wouldn't bother me to have a little noise and save 75%.

That's a shame. My cousin had a Comet like that and he flipped it around 1985 I think. Crushed the top at a weird angle. He gave it to me and I made a few bucks selling parts.

Good point. Not only do we have to try different things to figure out what works for us, it takes time to train the body to do this stuff. It's a lot easier for me to eat and ride than when I started.
