<chuckle> Not sure I understand the 'aesthetical' argument ... road bikes are inherently ugly (compared to, say, recumbents, racing bikes, or a Dutch commuter bike). :-)

For me it looks good because I only ride once or twice a week and the biggest time-waster before each ride is checking the tyre pressure, which requires connecting the pump and losing a chunk of...

(Hmm, separately, wouldn't it be nice if there were an angled adapter for valves so one could put the pump on without...

PSIcle passive tyre pressure sensor

I've been looking for something like this for a while: a passive tyre pressure sensor (no batteries required) that can be read by smartphone, so no need to connect pump to test (and lose) pressure:...

Looked the PSIcle Kickstarter project today (missed the earlier reference to it): https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/roverdev/psicle-sensor/

I think from other comments that the problem is the sprung lever on the head. On my pump it swings back aggressively once you start to detach it, and I know the same has happened to friends, too, so...

Yes, at least one comment above suggested an alternative pump without a sprung lever; I'll look into that!

Don't quite understand the 'wading through' bit .. new comments are always at the bottom...

By whom? Rewaking obsolete threads is an excellent way of alerting folk to progress, or (in this case, perhaps, lack of progress). Why is that annoying?

Bike tires are not car tires for a lot of...

Not my 'mission' at all. I simply googled the problem and this (bikeforums.net) seemed to have knowledgable people who would be up-to-date on the current state of the art. Surely after eleven years...

Thanks for the welcome!

Yes .. the comment that it wasn't a monumental problem was not helpful. And since there hasn't been a solution posted in 11 years, I thought it was worth re-raising the...

Losing air

I beg to differ. It's a real pain to have to remove the cap, unscrew the nut, attach the pump, pump the air, put on a glove to detach the pump (or get hand sliced on a spoke), remember to tighten...
