Use what works for you--you're the one on the bike. On my road bike, I'm using flat pedals with traction pins (sometimes referred to as BMX or Mtn.Bike pedals). Noone has said anything about them....

I used clipless pedals on my sirrus for years but changed to flat pedals for the past 2. Just do whatever fits your needs, it is not unusual to pick one or the other on any bike.
