Hi, what's the simplest way for me to gear my bike faster for the flats and downhill?

One of my bikes, a Trek Pure, is super fun to ride, but it's not fast enough. I max out on the flats (not to mention downhill).

It's a seven-speed with a 42t chainring in the front (one ring...

What size tire can I apply to this oddly-sized rim?

Hi. I have a rim that I purchased at the LBS a year or so ago, and they sold it to me as a 26-inch rim (it has a coaster brake, which I love, and I use it on my mountain bike along with hand brakes....

My plan to build the simplest bike I can.

It's a piece of junk.....except for the frame, the cranks, and the chain rings.

I'm going to put a light wheel...

Thinking of using a coaster brake. Any advice?

The frame, cranks and chainrings/sprockets are great.

But I'm going as simple as possible. No gears, no hand brakes. ...

I found a cheap bike frame intended for 700c.

Can I put my current 26 inch wheels on it?

How is the quality of those 100 dollar beach cruisers at the big box stores?

It seems fishy to find a beach cruiser for 99 bucks (Wal Mart, Target, Kmart).

Are these actually decent bikes? Will they last? Are the frames and forks strong?
