Why do you say that? Go watch video of any of the top pro TTers and tell me their cadence. If you can find one with a cadence of 80 I'll eat my hat. I'd say Cancellara is north of 100.

I'm making the case that you should have proper gearing, not that you should get a 54x11. Proper gearing depends on the situation. I'm not aware of a TT within a couple hours drive of here where...

If that's a limiting factor in your TT, go for it. You need the gears. For most other TT's the 50t is as good or better for mortals.
