I'm kind of a wuss about steep ST angles. It's hard on the wrists over longer rides. And if it is truly steep, then you feel like you have yo hold yourself up when descending. totally annoying.

Not sure if this will help, but I am a mouth breather, which dries out my throat and causes me to cough sometimes. I ALWAYS chew gum when I ride and my problem has been solved. it's worth a try.
