I'd suspect a 54 might allow for more flexibility for someone with 2" less leg than me.

it's all about how comfortable you are. if you're comfortable enough on it for a 100+ mile ride period, then the terrain and geometry are irrelevant.

Funny, that tells me my calculations for stock weight weren't that far off. I've trimmed about 3/4 of a pound of of mine by replacing bars, stem, post & saddle with Zipp stuff.

or just ride the synapse, which are great bikes in their own right. You likely won't...
