I wouldn't want to deface the bike in any way. I would just be careful where I was leaving the bike unattended. For me, the bike stays with me at all times. This limits the chance of it being stolen....

38 miles through the UW, Fremont, and Ballard areas of Seattle. Even took a spin up Stoneway Ave from Lake Union to 45th street. It's a good climb but not real long. Maybe about 9/10's of a mile.

I went out along the Sammamish River Trail between Redmond and Sheridan Beach. Total was 35 miles. I finished around 12:30pm and it was 90F which is hot for the greater Seattle area.
