Problem solved - but I had to go to the shop...

Problem solved - but I had to go to the shop ($10). For whatever reason, I couldn't get to (what would be) the smallest cog. Once the cable end was removed....I could shift to that lowest...

I wish I could, but the cable end is not visible...

I wish I could, but the cable end is not visible - but some of the remaining wires from the cable are. If I shift into the lowest (10th gear), it is closer but still not visible.
