I'm pretty sure caliper and canti have similar pull, and v brake is the outlier. So without a v-brake lever, you may be out of luck.

I set up a 2x7 bike for a buddy using Exage Action RD/FD and modern Altus trigger shifters and it all works great together. Yes the FD shifter is indexed but it works fine.

1983 Schwinn Super Sport. Upgraded the drivetrain to Shimano RX100 FD/RD. Really just brings the bike into the early 90s. Love that thing.
