Here is a update on my Centurion. I have clean all of the paint off of the drive side fork , on the other side I just cleaned off the spray paint and left the original gold pain on the upper half....

Awesome! Ishiwata 022 is double butted tubing comparable to Columbus SL I believe, and you can never go wrong with a Tange fork. Especially for $10 clams!

During the 80's Specialized was just a great bike maker for making good choices when it came to cutting costs and maintaining performance. A good example is on the Hardrock they kept the nice crank...

Ack, re-reading this, I just realized that it was a Rockhopper, not a Hard Rock. It's also not in my list of bikes, for shame.

But, yeah, I love my Specialized. Wish they still made a nice steel...

Some low-end English bikes came with dimpled or stippled steel rims in the late '60s or early '70s, too. Those didn't work well, either, which is why they were produced for such a short time.
