Your example left out aerodynamics. Bit of an unfair...

Isn't weight inconsequential in that? You spend the same energy with a heavy and light bike but you just go slower with the heavier bike.

Also since the heavier wheel maintains speed better it'd...

It climbs fine. I have a really hard time imagining wheel inertia makes that big of a difference as then...

Reading all this made me think about my fatbike. The studded tires on it are 1700 grams. Each.

I guess there's a flywheel effect or slowdown in acceleration. I don't really notice it.
