Merit Badge

When I was counselor in the 1980’s, the riding requirements were 6 rides of 25 miles each over a three month period. Then a 50 mile ride to
finish the badge. Bill

Cycling Merit Badge

About 30 years ago I was a Cycling Merit Badge counselor. Over the years I probably had 10 groups get the merit badge. Groups were 6-8 kids to start, with 2-3 dropping out.
At the time only road...

The lug work and wraparound seat stays and sloping fork crown match what is on my 1974 Mercian Professional. I think my 25” frame has 17”+ stays but I can’t get to it to measure right now. Anyway,...

Mercian Shop

In the early 90’s I stopped in the Mercian retail store in Derby, IIRC. It was a typical very

Quality Paint

Whoops, sent pictures without text. The Mercian was refinished about 1985 at Cyclery North, Chicago. I liked the look so much I had my Waterford done in the same style. Bill

Cyclery North repainted my 1974 Mercian around
1985. Ed W. was at the shop but it was after his accident or health issues. The paint on my Mercian still looks great. Bill
