Late but: 888 is heavy compared to 172. My current 1978 172 GJ will be hard to part with and I miss my 1978 172 GT. I built a smaller 888 GT for my daughter and it rode nice for such a heavy bike.

I've never seen a White Tempo. Yours is really nice. I had a white/red/green one and thought it was very fast with the 105 group. If I ever get another good shot at a Peloton, I'm a gonna take it.

Pinch the tubular in various places to restrict the air as you pump it up. This can help locate the puncture. You can fold the tire or use pliers, vise grips, etc. I doubt it is the valve.
