Converted the single speed, coaster brake LTD into a 5-speed with a front brake the other night, and just took it for a test ride. Very smooth ride, very little braking.

Not sure if your crank is the same, but I have a Gipiemme Sprint crank. I use Park Tool ccp-22 to remove the crank arms.
Same tool I use for other cranks I have.
