I gotta say the first upgrade to my bottom shelf Specialized Allez was 105 breaks. Same dual pivot stuff Lance uses, and I notice a difference. It should be all the stopping you need.

I've ridden both and I think the trek has a ligher and better frame (better due to fitting you more exactly). Neither bike will limit you, better equipment only makes you more efficent, not limited.
