They can make plastic soles quite stiff, just as they did 20 years ago. But to do that means those older shoes are as heavy as boat anchors compared to more modern carbon shoes.

This sounds like a shimmy, especially since the bike is aluminum. Even engineers aren't quiet sure why some bikes do this but you can stop it once it happens by putting you leg against the top tube.

They are good tires. For 2011 they have gained about 10 grams and changed the name to Ultremo ZX. That extra 10 grams seem to have gone into some thicker tread rubber.

I have not seen Soul wheels to say for sure but it sounds like where the rim is welded together is not very smooth. There should be a seam in the rim most likely opposite the valve stem.
