When you take the chain apart, you can leave the pin still attached to one side of the link. It takes time to learn the technique, but it is much easier to reassemble.

If the decals are old, use caution. I've had some very fragile old Schwinn decals in the past. The original Schwinn markings usually don't hold up to much cleaning, I've damaged some of those myself....

I would definitely do something. Evaporust can help, or one of the rust converter products. If you do nothing, that rust will do more damage. Yes, you'll need to do touch up, but that can be fun too....
