their making junk today.you see the old square axles had to be heat treated because of there small size. with these new oversized axles they can skip the heat treatment. saves a lot of money.

go to a pro shop they can face the head tube top and bottom abouy 3/16 on each side, that would give you more threads on the steering tube.

LBS will have a tool that reams out those threads and re-taps for a larger size, just one catch, every time you want to take that crank off you'll have to use the shops over sized puller.

a pro shop will have a head tube faceing and reaming cutter, face off about 3/16 on each end of the head tube,this will give you more threads on the steering tube.

all new bikes should be preped.....taped, faced, honed and checked for frame alignment.it's a one shot deal, so go for!......but only a pro shop will have the tools.

now you see, thats the differance between a bike shop and a pro shop,a pro shop will have campagnolo tool case, frame alignment table and a phil wood spoke machine.
