Never really had a good bench buffer so bought one but I think I also bought the wrong buffing wheels. The one I tried just covered me in threads from the wheel. I know there are better buffing...

This was rusty, crusty but I always use 0000 steel wool and WD-40 on all my restorations. Good chrome is very hard and can take a bit of abrasive.
