6 months is rare and a worst case scenario. Sounds like a lot of people in this thread have said 2 weeks before riding. that is consistent with my experience. The operation itself was no big deal. The shots to numb were the worst part - stayed numb the rest of the day. Day 2-5, it felt like the residual soreness after a good kick to the crotch. After the first week things were fine - just occasional soreness. By the end of week 2, its like nothing ever happened.
A few days of soreness were totally worth it. It beats the heck out of other methods.
