Oh and how about a real oddity?? Has anyone ever seen a set of CLAMP ON 600 tricolor shifters? I don't recognize the clamping band, and it's not the older type. the mounting bases are slotted to fit the band. They're the dark grey gloss, shaped like tricolor, and they're SIX speed indexed. The cables go in from the inner edge near the base, and have a little matching plastic clip cover to hide the cable end. I got them in a jumble of parts a while back. pics coming as well for these.,,,,BD

Band/clamp mount shifters were still offered the with the 7 speed version but disappeared with the introduction of 8 speed. It was intended primarily as an upgrade option for older frames. Remember , SIS was only entering it's 4th year when 600 Ultegra was introduced, so there was still a relatively large retro-fit market
