Yeah, mid-80s will probably be 126mm frame. Most fixed wheels are 120mm, but if you get 'em @ velomine you can request wheels with hubs respaced for 126 bikes.
I'd probably go for 700c wheels. If your frame was made for 27" you may need long reach brakes to run 700c.
