There is also this metallic violet Canadian bike, but I didn't think mine was from north of the border.

I was only pointing out the fact that I hadn't seen any other posts about Metallic Violet frames.

From reading the forum, I thought that the number following the letter, as in I.9, means that it was built in the ninth year of the 80's, and released the following season. I must be wrong on the identification scheme. Any insight to the ID scheme used?

I guess I have another question or two. Should I be looking for New Old Stock drive train parts if I wish to use and keep this bike for the long term? Or is it better to just better to bite the bullet and buy new? Is this even feasible with this frame? Clearly I'm new to bike mechanics.
