Really? 10mph? Why so slow? I go that "fast" on my no auxiliary powered Miami Sun single speed standard traditional adult trike, pulling a John Deere Green and Yellow garden/nursery cart from Home Depot with "a couple hundred" pounds on it, on level ground with no tailwind. (850 pounds to over loaded (more than 1,000 pounds) did slow me down to 7 or 8 mph. I've only had that cart overloaded maybe six or eight times. )
I'm faster on my bicycles, even the old single speed Huffy "Key Largo" "Beach Cruiser" I have, I can average 15mph on level ground with no tail wind. Again, no motor or engine on any of my bikes or trikes.
