But yes - loosen the pinch bolts and then tighten the big one. It's plastic on many Shimano cranks, which should tell you that it's a very low torque piece. You just want it finger tight - just enough to remove lateral play along the spindle. If you're using something with a lever, go very lightly.

Well this is going to sound silly, but I can’t tell if the play is the arm or pedal shaking. I noticed something felt different when riding this morning and it was only on the right side. Just checked again to be sure.
Pedals could have anywhere from 14000 to 30000 miles on them for all I know.
