I can watch NBA games on TV, but I'll rarely make a point of catching a given game. A particularly good playoff match-up? Sure, but otherwise eh - there's always more.

All that said, as well as the NBA and NFL translate to TV viewing, they are mind-blowing in person. TV just doesn't quite do justice to the size and athleticism of these guys; it's just absurd.
NBA playoffs are happening now. Since the Lakers got blown out I've enjoyed the Clippers/Jazz. Great matchup so far. Nets beat Bucks tonight as Durant hit 49.
I also like seeing the young Atlanta Hawks put up such a fight against #1 Sixers.
And you're right about seeing them live. I sat near the basket at a Lakers/Spurs game. It was amazing seeing them battling under there and then we stood up when they walked by on their way to the locker room.
