I'll add that was the era when they changed the routing of the cable from a guide over the bottom bracket (usually with a housing stop on the derailleur) to a guide under the bottom bracket (with no housing from the downtube shifter location). If memory serves, Suntour sold FDs with removable stops so they could be installed either way. Finding the long separated stop, if you need one, is virtually impossible.
