A longer wheelbase doesn't mean a more stable less agile bike. The Brompton has a longer wheelbase and is not really stable.
Headtube angle, fork rake and trail very much do play roles in stability; it is clearly not just wheelbase.
That being said, leaving everything else the same and changing wheelbase will directly affect stability.
