And now that you've cracked that door open, for some reason I can't explain, I wince every time I read about somebody's wheels having x hubs
laced to Y rims.
And when anything about a bike is referred to as "lovely" or "stout." (In those cases, it grates because I know that it was borrowed, possibly unconsciously, from a folksy Grant Petersen screed.)
A guy I worked with in a bike store couldn't stand hearing seat stays referred to as "beefy" (a bit of hyperbole you don't hear anymore).
