I found this pic from gumtree.com but the ad was long gone and there was no text with it. Looks like your bike in its heyday but definitely not a high end bike and only a 5 speed. My guess is a rebadged Japanese import from the bike boom era sold by some retail chain. The whole bike reminds me of a very low end C. ITOH that briefly cluttered up my garage many years ago.
