Sunny and warm, I ride into the Mountains.
On wide trails over trestles.
No cars and very few people.
Passing by lake and ponds, rivers and a waterfall.
A steep descent down a rough logging road to pavement.
Down the old highway, devoid of vehicles.
Speed without effort.
A short punchy climb back up to the trail.
I cut through an old neighborhood where we lived when we first moved here over 30 years ago.
Memories of our young family when I pass by our old home.
The log house that became too small after our son was born.
Speedy descent on silky pavement past luxury homes with expansive views behind locked gates to North Bend.
Mixing it up with traffic now after passing under the Interstate.
Relief comes in the form of a greenway trail by the edge of a housing development.
And I'm riding again on a dirt trail in a tunnel of trees following the river home.
