The new cone wrench arrived, so I went to work and re-did the hubs. They hardly needed it! Immaculate bearing tracks with no hint of pitting, the grease was still grease, not wax, and no evidence of water penetration. Also, the original cone adjustment was nothing short of incredible. I was watching a video yesterday suggesting you should tighten the cones down till there's SOME play, so it would be taken up when you tighten the QR. These have always had zero play and still nice and free once the QR is tight. I used that as my goal in adjusting the cones. I think I got close.

My big fear in all this was that I'd order everything to rebuild the wheels and then discover the hubs were too worn. Nope! Should be good for thousands more miles! If only I can build the wheels good enough!
