If that were strictly a mtb issue, I'd be good with it. Asking people to do anything, is asking far too much.

Yeah this is more of a broader human issue. Same problem with hikers, leaving trash etc. In Scouts they taught us to "Leave no Trace". I like to take it a step further and take a piece of trash out with me, especially if I encounter it on foot.
