I have found mine very good for sleep and regular daily activity, but lacking for exercise such as walking and of course, cycling.
I have the RingCon ring. I like it overall for exactly what you said. there isn't a good way to really track fitness with it though. I still use my apple watch/strava for rides and other exercising.
