That happens here quite often. Normally when there is a cold front pushing up against the west side of the Continental Divide with a lot of out-flow type wind associated with the front. Very common in places like Browning, MT which lies just east of Glacier National Park. In the winter, they can have clear skies and get 4 inches of snow!
