I mostly ride fixed gear. The fellows over in the FG/SS forum say I'm not supposed to have a computer on my bike, so I don't.
I also carry no computer or HR monitor on my Waterford track bike cuz they would obscure my lovely, vintage "double crest" logos on my Cinelli 66/42 bars.
I still ride hard and my normal loops are well documented as to elevation and mileage.
PS I don't much care what the hipsters on the SS/FG forum think as to what constitutes "style" as I find Velocity Deep V's ugly, esp. in colors!
