If the rims are original, I would think they would be 27", vs 700c. You can find fuji catalogs online, if you want to look. Of course, that is assuming the rims/wheels have not been swapped out.
I would not say the tires would be too narrow for the rims, but they are not what was designed for it. 7/8" is a racing oriented size. 1 1/4 would be more plush and what I would want to use for this bike.
