Dunno. I haven't looked at it too closely, but it's just not thriving as much - hasn't grown as tall, didn't/doesn't have many flowers. It also already had one pepper on it when we got it, so maybe it thinks it's good for the season.
One year, when I was still gardening for market, I still had 50 lbs. of habaneros on the plants when the first frost hit. I recommend mushroom compost, if you can get it. Worm compost if you can't.
With either of these, you can't use too much. It's always nice to have a little soil in the mix, for structure.
