Have you thought about going to a junk yard and picking up a used display? It might not be easy to install but the trip to the junk yard will give you an idea of how hard it is to access that part. When I bought my car I bought a digital copy of the repair manual. It was worth the cost alone in figuring out if I should fix it myself or let a mechanic do the job.
