That road is so straight with no view obstruction. I can't imagine how there could be an accident there unless the drive dozed off, played with his phone, radio etc.. right when he was passing all those bicyclist.

The accident did occur near a long sweeping curve, and an interchange of sorts. But, late morning daytime visibility should still have been good.
Reports a few days after the accident indicate the driver had Methamphetamine in the blood. The drug should be a stimulant that might help with alertness, but not necessarily safe driving. The driver has been arrested for driving intoxicated, and will face multiple charges.
