We've spun off two topics. Discussion about the group ride that was hit near Las Vegas

Discussion about SAG/Support vehicle lane positioning in general, and in reference to the Nevada group ride.

For a brief catch-up, The accident did occur near a long sweeping curve, and an interchange of sorts. But, late morning daytime visibility should still have been good.

Reports a few days after the accident indicate the driver had Methamphetamine in the blood. The drug should be a stimulant that might help with alertness, but not necessarily safe driving. The driver has been arrested for driving intoxicated, and will face multiple charges.
